- Performer Series carburetors complete the Edelbrock Power Package
System for a smooth running and great performing "no guesswork"
parts combination. Read below to find out about carburetion and
how Edelbrock carburetors work. You'll see specifically what
our carburetors can do for your engine's performance and
why the Performer Series square-bore carburetor has been a hit
among well-informed automotive enthusiasts since its introduction
in 1989.
HOW EDELBROCK 4-BARREL CARBURETORS GIVE YOU OUTSTANDING STREET
PERFORMANCE...
- The carburetor is your fuel metering device. It has the difficult task of mixing air and fuel in the proper quantities while also serving as your throttling device. Calibration is the heart of
the carburetor's contribution. An engine won't make decent power unless the carburetor maintains precise control of the air/fuel ratio throughout the engine's operating range.
Since a carburetor responds primarily to air flow, its performance
can be influenced by every other major component in the engine
system. By design, Performer Series square-bore carbs are refined
to provide the widest possible torque range when matched with
Edelbrock Performer, Performer RPM or Torker II manifold/camshaft
combinations. However, these carburetors are not limited to these applications, they also match well with most stock and other aftermarket manifolds of similar design.
Each Performer Series carburetor is flow tested at the factory
to check air and fuel flow against a master carburetor. Even correct
idle settings are set to ensure quick, easy installation. Edelbrock carbs put fun back into your driving because
of a unique ability to, as the saying goes, "hold a tune".
This means, that compared to other carburetors, performance remains
consistent and calibration is held perfectly. All Edelbrock square-bore carbs come with our exclusive Owner's Manual.
Manufactured by Weber USA®, Performer Series square-bore
carbs are all-aluminum, ball-burnished and lightweight. There are no power valves to blow or plastic parts to break. The two-piece construction resists warping. Metering rods can be changed within seconds without carburetor removal. These all metal carburetors are also compatible with gasohol and blended fuels. Their simple tub-type bowl and rear-pivot floats offer you trouble-free operation. For Carburetor Accessories see Carburetor Accessories page.
These carbs are engineered and calibrated to Edelbrock specifications.

Customers Write About Edelbrock Carburetors...
"I've run Holley carbs for years, but I'm very impressed with my new (Edelbrock) carb.
I'll never go back to a Holley!!"
-- 1972 Dodge Challenger from Michigan
"I sure get tired of seeing Holley carbs on your manifolds when you make a superior carb. Since the early '80's I have been running the old X-C8 manifold with a pair of '60's Carter 500 cfm carbs and after many rebuilds and shops never getting them to run just right I was ready for a change. My friends had the new Edelbrock carbs and couldn't say enough good things about them. So Santa shows up with a pair of 1404's, we bolted them on turned the key and the roadster never ran better.
I haven't had to change one thing out of the box. Since then I have purchased two more for my muscle cars and just bolt on and go... so keep up the good work and I'll keep trying to
sell your carbs to people..."
-- 1929 Model A from Oregon
"I replaced the Holley with an Edelbrock #1405. Right out of the box, the Edelbrock solved all
my problems. The quality of the 1405 performance carburetor has amazed me and certainly has
indicated that in whatever projects come down
the road for me, there will always be an
Edelbrock carburetor."
