Polymatrix Brake Pads

We are one of Wilwood's larger independent dealers. Although we do not stock the all the brake pads in Wilwood's catalog, we can supply them at a resonable price by having them shipped direct to you if you are located in the lower 48 states. For expedited service please specify when you are in the check out portion of the shopping cart. Technical Questions?

PolyMatrix "A" Characteristics * Ultimate high friction compound with aggressive initial response. * Long wear rate for severe duty, sustained high temperature braking. * Immediate low temperature response for qualifying laps, restarts, and any other applications requiring high response at low temperatures. * Compatible with iron, steel, and titanium rotors. Applications * Race ONLY compound used in ARCA, ASA, ALMS, Grand-AM, NASCAR, REMAX, SCCA, USAC, and other severe duty oval, road course, and off-road series that require an aggressive response and durability in the highest temperature ranges. * Lightweight sprints and club sport racers using steel plate rotors that require fast response at low temperatures with resistance to fade during periodic or temporary high temperature spikes.

PolyMatrix "B" Characteristics * Medium-high friction compound with good cold response and a gently rising friction curve as temperature increases. * Smooth, predictable engagement with excellent control over a wide range of applications. * Long wearing pad in the middle temperature ranges with moderate wear in sustained high heat conditions. * Easily bedded without abrasion on new iron or steel rotors. Applications: * Race ONLY compound used in ARCA, ASA, ALMS, Grand-AM, NASCAR, REMAX, SCCA, USAC, and other severe duty oval, road course, and off-road series that require an aggressive response and durability in the highest temperature ranges. * Lightweight sprints and club sport racers using steel plate rotors that require fast response at low temperatures with resistance to fade during periodic or temporary high temperature spikes.

PolyMatrix “C” # Medium to medium high friction compound with soft middle temperature response and a gradual rise to a flat torque curve as temperatures increase. # Long wear rate for severe duty, sustained high temperature braking . # Reduced friction alternative to B Application: * Race ONLY compound commonly used to reduce bias against A, B, or H compounds when additional hydraulic adjustments are not available. * Use on any lightweight vehicle, including dirt applications, with high mechanical advantage brakes to prevent wheel lock-up in marginal traction conditions.

PolyMatrix "E" has the highest temperature range within the medium temperature group pads. Its medium to medium high torque curve makes "E" an excellent choice for weekly racing on all type of dirt tracks and lighter duty pavement categories. "E" compound exhibits a gradually progressive torque curve through the low temperature range and then stays virtually flat throughout the remainder of its temperature band. This flat torque curve yields immediate, predictable pedal response and superior modulation characteristics throughout its entire temperature range.

PolyMatrix "J" is a long wearing, medium-high torque pad compound for use over a wide temperature range. "J" was developed with a less aggressive profile than "A", for use when extreme heat and long wear are still required for endurance type competition. PolyMatrix "J" is tough enough for Martinsville, yet light enough for faster intermediate and Super Speedway applications.

When applications dictate a less aggressive brake response, "J" can be used in whole sets, or in combination with other compounds to tune the vehicles brake response. "J" delivers a very flat torque curve with very smooth, spike free engagement throughout the entire temperature range. Pedal response and modulation quality remains consistent. In comparison to other medium-high torque pads, "J" will not change friction with heat, and easily outlasts all other brands.

PolyMatrix "J" is a superb material on all cast iron and high strength steel alloy racing rotors. It reaches peak performance after one high temperature bedding cycle. Once bedded, it provides a consistently smooth transfer layer during sustained high temperature runs, and eliminates any engagement pulsing or chatter that can result from uneven material build up on the rotor faces. A smooth transfer layer also provides quick, predictable release for maximum consistency. The uniform thermal transfer characteristics of all PolyMatrix compounds will minimize hot spotting and heat checking. Rotor life is ultimately extended over other hard or abrasive brake pad compound.

PolyMatrix “Q” is a ceramic enhanced formula developed for ultra quiet performance for custom street and hot rod applications. This revolutionary new friction material has improved stopping power over all types of OE pads, with quieter stopping and lower dust than any non-asbestos organic or metallic based compounds. "Q" has smooth engagement, long service life, quick recovery and high fade resistance. PolyMatrix "Q" is available in the common pad shapes used in most aftermarket performance calipers and several popular OE models. In all cases, the patented Nucap Retention System is employed to retain the friction material onto the steel backing plates. NRS has been proven to provide the strongest method of retaining the friction material on the backing plate. There are no bonding adhesives to break down in high heat conditions and no rivets to loosen after repeated high torque stops. In addition, this 100% retention method eliminates any possibility of high frequency vibrations to occur between the friction material and the backing plates. It is an exclusive feature available only on PolyMatrix pads, and one more feature that guarantees durability and the quietest possible performance.

PolyMatrix "BP" Characteristics * Medium friction compound with the low noise and low dust of a street performance compound and the increased friction characteristics of a semi-metallic race compound. * Smooth engagement with consistent response from a flat torque curve throughout its entire effective temperature range. * Good low to middle temperature wear rates. * Beds quickly and provides fast response without excessive abrasion on vented iron rotors. Applications * High performance street / strip, drag race, and track day categories using vented iron rotors. * Light to medium braking on dirt tracks including late models, modifieds, sportsman, and street stocks. * Disc brake conversions on street rods and muscle cars.
