55-57 Chevrolet Disc Brake Kits

We have a wide selection of brake kits for your 55-57 Chevrolet.  We always recommend the purchase of the Wilwood brake kits over the OEM (factory) type because of the amount of pressure that is required to operate the GM calipers.  What you save on your initial purchase will be lost with the headaches, time and parts you have to buy in addition to the normal master cylinder used with a 4 piston caliper kit.  

We now have a "Zero Offset" brake kit for this spindles.  By designing a special hub this brake kit does not move the hubs out and retains stock turning radius.  Add the Forged Superlite upgrade to your "Zero Offset" 11.75 or 12.19 brake kit.  Inexpensive addition to get a 9.5" caliper upgrade.

Heidts' 2" drop spindle: Their drop spindle is designed with the oil seal and inner bearing location approximately 0.600" outward from the stock location. We are only able to move the wheel flange back about 0.300" without compromising caliper to wheel clearances. Our kits will allow you to use almost any wheel and save you the cost of buying custom wheels with special spokes just to clear the calipers. You will not have to use spacers or buy "front wheel" style rims with our brake kit. It is all about the look and without that reverse look your 55-57 Chevy will look like a front wheel drive import. Note 3: Wilwood part number 140-3425 moves the track out 0.890" per side over the Zero Offset Brake Kits.  Requires offset wheels.  Recommend the installation of brake kit before you purchase new wheels.

Note 5: Special 11.75 & 12.19 x .810 inch scallop rotors also available but these are not recommended for street use, because of the .810" thickness.

Note 7: Special kit for Heidts 2" Drop Spindles does not move the wheels out 1.25" like the Heidts kit. Moves wheels approximately .300" out from stock due the location of the oil seal and spindle spud on a Heidts spindle which is about .600" out from the stock location. Does not include spindles. (see kits with Note 10 for purchase with spindles)

Note 9: Includes 2" Superior drop spindles moves the wheels out approximately 0.187"

This is another picture our "Zero Offset" brake kit part number B1C 2415601ZFSD or B1C 2415621ZFSD (with Heidts 2" drop spindles) on Tom Gross' (Fullerton, CA) 1956 Chevy chassis. Call Heidts and see if they can do what we can "zero offset"! As with all our front kits the calipers can be mounted in the front or in the back of the rotor. Note the big brake look for a fraction of the cost. The 11.75" rotors gives you maximum rotor size and still retaining the 15" rims. 12.19" kit would look the same except for the larger rotors.
