Brakes 65-73 Mustang

65-73 Mustang Disc Brake Kits

We have made it easy for the early Mustang owners by producing the brake kits shown on this page.  This fills the void where Wilwood does not make a kit.  For additional information go to the Wilwood section of the web site.  We always recommend the purchase of the Wilwood brake kits over the OEM (factory) type because of the amount of pressure that is required to operate the OEM calipers.  What you save on your initial purchase will be lost with the headaches, time and parts you have to buy in addition to the normal master cylinder used with a 4 piston caliper kit.

We now have a "Zero Offset" brake kit for this spindles.  By designing a special hub this brake kit does not move the hubs out and retains stock turning radius.  Add the Forged Superlite upgrade for only $100 to your "Zero Offset" 11.00", 11.75 or 12.19 brake kit.  Inexpensive addition to get a 9.5" caliper upgrade.  Applications with Forged Superlite may require a wheel spacer 0.050 to 0.150", this does not apply to Superlite 6 or Dynalite calipers.  

The reproduction early Mustang spindles is now available, however the machining is not to factory specifications.  Brackets made for stock spindles will not work with this spindle.  Our "Zero Offset" brakes kits are also available with these spindles and utilize a custom bracket made specifically for this spindle.

Note 1: Add "D" to the part number for Drilled and Slotted Rotors

Note 3: Moves wheels out 1/2" per side.
Note 4: Special kit does not move wheels out 1/2" per side.
Note 5: Stock 14" rims can be used with this application.

Note 7: Requires stock 71-73 Mustang Disc Brake Spindles or Granada Spindles (16).  Will not work disc brake cars 67-69 because these early cars did not use different spindles for the disc brake application. (see note 19 below)  An upper hole parallel to the frame, like found in a Mustang 2 spindle is required for the upper bracket mount.
Note 8: Backing plate mount holes must be drilled & tapped on disc brake spindles.
Note 9: Red calipers add $150 per kit for Dynalite and $180 per kit for Superlite in Red
Note 10: Polished Calipers add $100 per kit for Dynalite and $120 per kit for Superlite.
Note 11. Will not work with after market spindles must be factory disc brake spindles.  After market spindles are not machined to factory specifications.

Note 16: Most Granada spindles have the upper caliper bracket hole step drilled 1/2 x 9/16.  When using our bracket it is required you drill this out to 9/16".
Note 17: Special 11.75 & 12.19 x .810 inch scallop rotors also available but these are not recommended for street use, because of the .810" thickness.
Note 18: See our rear kits for matching scallop rotors  
Note 19: Requires stock 68-69 Mustang disc brake spindles. Disc brake spindles must have the upper hole just below the upper ball joint that is parallel to the frame. This kit uses the smaller bearing for this spindle.
Note 20: Conversions with power steering using Granada or 70-73 disc brake spindles must use the special Granada offset tie rods on left side and stock 70-73 tie rods on right side.
Note 21: Existing Early Mustang Conversion using the Granada spindles and rotors.
Note 22: Conversion kit includes: Dynalite Calipers, Pads, brake lines and our special caliper brackets. Does not includes rotors or propotional valve. Uses your existing rotors.
Note 23: Now you can use the larger 11.75" rotors on your reproduction 2 piece wheels with this kit. Special custom 2.50" hats to clear almost any 15" wheel including reproduction 2 piece wheels with cast aluminum centers.

Special Optional Scalloped Rotors. 12.90 x 1.10 directional vane. Add this to any of our custom 12.90 front or rear brake kits and you will have an award winning car. Too cool for words. Front rotors use one of our custom aluminum hats. Rears are custom built to fit the Wilwood rear brake assembly so you can upgrade an existing 12.19 x .810 kit to this big 12.90" x 1.10" rotors.
