Forged Billet Dynalite FDL Calipers
The FDL is drag racing's strongest and most efficient caliper. Stress-flow forged billet bodies and a highly efficient radial transition design, are the key elements contributing to the superior strength and efficiency of the FDL. This innovative caliper incorporates the newest technology with proven performance features from other Wilwood designs. The FDL caliper is a fixed lug mount, opposed piston configuration. It generates high clamping force without deflection from four stainless steel pistons. Stainless is used to resist corrosion and reduce heat transfer from the pads. Square faced o-rings provide long service life and decreased drag through positive piston retraction. FDL calipers feature Wilwood's SRS stainless steel bridge plates to eliminate the bridge wear caused by pad gouging and extend the service life of the caliper. The spring-loaded action of the SRS plates also eliminates pad rattle and
dampens the vibration harmonics that contribute to pad squeal. The 1/8" NPT fluid inlet ports are easily adapted to all types of flexlines. Internal fluid passages evenly distribute fluid and pressure to both sides of the caliper without the need for external tubes. Four corner bleed screws assure simple and effective bleeding regardless of the caliper location. The top loaded brake pads can be easily inspected and serviced without caliper removal. Each caliper carries Wilwood's signature and a black anodized finish. Forged Dynalite calipers are a direct bolt-on replacement and upgrade for all previous Dynalite models.
Solid or Lightweight Drilled Steel Rotors
Wilwood rotors are manufactured from a special steel alloy using proprietary manufacturing processes. These rotors are light and strong with high thermal stability and resistance to distortion. The 11.44" diameter by .35" thick rotors concentrate the majority of the rotor's mass in the pad sweep surface where it can efficiently absorb and dissipate heat. The rotor ID is scallop cut between the mounting bolt lugs to eliminate all unnecessary weight and assist with airflow for cooling. In categories where every ounce and thousandths of a second count, drilled rotors provide maximum weight reduction. Wilwood's engineered drill pattern is very specific to hole size and location to keep distortion low and durability high. For heavier cars or cars competing in bracket or throttle stop categories, the additional mass in the solid face rotors provides higher thermal stability and will increase the service life of the rotors and pads. Every rotor is surface ground for precise thickness and parallelism, then black oxide finished to resist corrosion.
GT Series Dynamic Mount Hat and T-Nut System
GT brake hats are precision machined from premium grade aluminum and engineered for maximum strength with the lowest rotating weight. Dynamic mount hats use specially machined slots with T-Nuts to provide an extremely durable "floating mount" for the rotor. This design allows free expansion between the steel rotor and aluminum hat to reduce thermal distortion and undo stress on all components. Hats for 0.50" wheel stud axles are multi-drilled for 4.50", 4.75" or 5.00" five lug patterns. Hats for .69" wheel studs feature the 5 by 4.75" and 5.00" patterns. The hats are black anodized to resist corrosion and accelerate heat dissipation. For use with Wilwood t-nut kits only.
PolyMatrix Brake Pads
PolyMatrix 7112 "E" compound brake pads provide immediate cold response and a smooth rising torque curve over a high temperature range. "E" provides steady control during burn-outs and staging with immediate positive response at the finish line. There is fade free performance for the hottest stops.
Important Ordering Information
Custom built or narrowed rear axles may use axle bearings and flange offsets that are different from the original make and model of the center section. All kits must be ordered based on the axle flange and axle offset.
The fittings and flexlines to install these brake systems must be ordered separately.
